Ms. Vivieca Wright Simpson assumed duties as Chief of Staff of the Department of Veterans Affairs on February 27, 2017. As Chief of Staff, she is the senior most advisor to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, which has a $182.3 billion budget with over 340,000 employees and 1,700 sites of care, benefit offices, and national cemeteries throughout the country.Prior to becoming Chief of Staff, Ms. Wright Simpson served as the Chief of Staff of the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), the largest integrated health care system in the United States, where she focused on strategy and innovation, overseeing a broad range of implementation activities across VHA involving policy practices, organizational alignments, and functional assignments for VHA’s 18 Veterans IntegratedService Networks and 171 medical centers. Ms. Wright Simpson has held numerous leadership roles in VHA. She has experience in working with senior executives, congressional members, and Veteran stakeholders.
